About US

Purveyors of primitive goods, folk-art, painted furniture, & needful things, the Good Old Days Country Shop is a unique and charming shop specializing in things old, things remembered, and things from the good old days.

Barb and John O'Brien, proprietors, opened the shop in our home on May 12, 2001 and we have never looked back. After 2 1/2 years we ran out of space in our home and had to find a larger place for the shop. So in September 2003, The Good Old Days Country Shop was relocated to a wonderful old building in the quaint hamlet of Pultneyville. With 5000 square feet available, we now have plenty of space to work in.
We look hard for those unique, primitive, and country pieces that are hard to find, and we try to price it to move. We also stock Keeper's Of The Light Candles, Bennington Pottery, Redware, Stoneware, Rusty Tin Items, Iron, Folk Art, Prints, Linens, Trade Signs, Lamps & Accessories, and much, much more. People from all over have visited our shop. Read what some of them had to say.
John performs restoration work on some of our antiques and also makes custom reproductions we often carry in our shop. One of our most popular items is the farm tables that John makes in the shop. John's custom woodworking is an added asset and welcome addition to our business. For antique restoration work, a farm table, or custom woodworking, contact John. If you would like to see the progression of the new wood shop we recently built, click here.We would be happy to design and build a family heirloom just for you!
We strive to come up with new and exciting ideas for products and "cool" things to offer our customers. Please stop by and visit with us. For an idea of what the shop looks like and what we sell, take a virtual tour of our shop. We also offer some of our items for sale on the web and occasionally on Ebay.
You can also check out our antiques ONLY website as well for the finest in early American pieces. John and Barb make it part of their business to continually generate creative items for sale in the shop. We shop all over the Northeast to stock the shop.

At The Good Old Days, we are very proud to sell the beautifully handcrafted antique reproductions by the famous Lawrence Crouse Workshops. Mr. Crouse was selected by Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's Home) to re-create chairs and other period pieces from Pres. Jefferson's era. The table and Windsor chairs are just a few styles that Lawrence Crouse has painstakingly re-created just like they were over 200 years ago. And wait till you see our prices, you won't believe we can offer you something so beautiful-destined to become a treasured family heirloom at such a reasonable price.

We are now the area's premier distributor of Johnston Benchwork's fine upholstered furniture. We have several pieces on display and can special order from their vast collection of styles and fabrics. Stop by and let one of the sales persons tell you about this fine line of furniture. Click HERE to learn more about this fine line of furniture.

Chances are-if you are looking for a special piece for that certain area in your home, we either already have it or can special order it. We would be delighted if you would stop by!
